What is a functional fabric?

Functional fabric refers to changing the properties of the fabric, adding various functional preparations and processes during the production process and finishing, so that the fabric has a special role and super performance.

Functional fabrics are generally divided into two categories.

1.Sports functional fabric

Such fabrics are mainly mountaineering suits, ski suits, and assault suits, which are suitable for sports function and harsh environments and protect people;

Sports functional fabrics test physical properties such as shrinkage, seam slip, elongation strength, tear strength, PH value, water resistance, water pressure resistance, moisture permeability, rain, light, water stains, sweat stains, friction, machine washing and other physical properties index.

2. Casual functional fabrics

This type of fabric is mainly casual and fashionable, with exquisite workmanship, soft touch and comfortable wearing.

Main functional fabric

1.Super waterproof fabric

Ordinary raincoats are waterproof, but have poor breathability and are not conducive to perspiration.

The moisture-permeable waterproof fabric uses the difference in the size of water vapor particles and raindrops to adhere a porous structure film with a smaller pore size than the raindrops on the surface of the fabric.

2. Flame retardant fabric

Ordinary fabrics will burn when exposed to fire, and flame retardant fabrics will polymerize, blend, copolymerize, and compositely spin flame retardants to make fibers have permanent flame retardant properties.

Flame retardant fabrics are: aramid, flame retardant acrylic, flame retardant viscose, flame retardant polyester, smoldering vinylon and so on. It is suitable for making protective clothing for metallurgy, oil field, coal mine, chemical industry, electric power and fire protection industry.

3. Discoloration fabric

The color-changing fabric is made by dispersing the color-changing material in microcapsules and dispersing it in a resin solution and coating it on the surface of the cloth. The clothing can be changed in color with the changes of light, heat, liquid, pressure, and electronic wires. Generally, the production of traffic suits and swimming suits can play a role of safety protection, and can also be used to make stage clothes, which has a colorful effect.

4. Antistatic fabric

Using hydrophilic finishing or adding conductive fibers to make the fabric conductive, this fabric is not easy to absorb ash, antistatic, and is very suitable for making carpets and special work clothes such as dustproof clothing.

5.Insulation fabric

Zirconium carbide-based compound particles are added to nylon and polyester fibers, which can efficiently absorb solar energy and convert it into heat, that is, far-infrared insulation. Suitable for making clothing in cold environments.

What are the health effects of functional fabrics on the human body?

Compared with general fabrics, it has a certain scientific and technological content and practical value. For textile fabrics with health care functions, it can meet the health needs of consumers and meet the laws of human health. For example, far-infrared textile fabrics have excellent health physiotherapy, dehumidification, breath ability, and bacteriostatic functions. It can absorb the heat emitted by the human body outwards, absorb and emit far-infrared rays of the wavelength most needed by the human body, improve blood micro-circulation and have Warming effect; the regular friction between the anion textile fabric and the human body can excite negative ions, which helps to promote health functions such as metabolism and blood purification.
